Who we are
We are a church of people with different ages, coming from different backgounds and different countries. Although we are not all the same we have three things in common.

Family

We believe that one of the most important ways the Bible describes the church is as a family. This means that the church is a place where everyone can be loved and treated equally. When there is need we help each other, when there is good news we celebrate together.

Worshippers
We don't just follow God because He's in charge or 'bigger' than us. We follow (worship) because we think He's more awesome, more valuable and more praiseworthy than anything or anyone else. We love Him.

On a mission
The great news about Jesus is worth telling people about in and for the community.

Our History

In 2011 a group of people from Bolton Family Church began meeting in Westhoughton.  We did lots of things including hosting the Watoto Children's Choir and Christmas Celebrations, Easter egg giveaways, and fun in the Park.

January 2013 saw us begin to meet every Sunday in Westhoughton in what was known as the Communiversity.  In July we were asked to take over the management of the Centre and renamed it Hope Community Centre.

The Hope Centre gave us a great opportunity to be involved in the community. We had a varied range of activities in the Centre run by businesses and communty Groups. Sadly due to a variety of issues with the building that the council can't afford to deal with at present, we've had to move to another premises - The Hub next door, who have kindly welcomed us in and where we currently meet on a Sunday morning.

On Sundays we enjoy meeting together to worship God, be with one another and we love having visitors.  We also get together during the week.  Church, for us, is not a meeting on a Sunday but is people who want to love God and enjoy each other's company.

How do we love and serve God?  We believe that Jesus lived a perfect life, died on a cross so that we could be with Him forever and then went into Heaven with God the Father.

When He left, Jesus said that He would send His Holy Spirit to fill and help us to live how He called us to.  He also inspired people to write the bible which teaches who God is and how to live lives that please Him.  We believe that the Word of God (the Bible) and the Holy Spirit inform and empower us in our lives.
